As a Party to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, Canada is obliged to have a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity reflecting the measures set out in the Convention. Canada’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan has continually evolved and developed since Canada ratified the Convention on Biological Diversity, and consists of a series of foundational national policies, supported by several related national strategies, as well as strategies and plans developed and implemented by Provincial and Territorial governments.
